About Me.
After 16 years in primary education, including teaching and leadership roles in the UK, Singapore, and The Netherlands, it feels like the right moment to channel that experience into something new: a venture close to my heart that helps children and young people flourish personally, socially, and beyond the classroom. That's why I launched iSpeak®.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked collaboratively with staff to create environments where students feel confident, connected, and able to express themselves clearly, because when those conditions exist, learning can thrive and they can succeed. As Head of Teaching & Learning at Bryanston, Deputy Head Academic at The Paragon School and a Senior Leader at The British School in The Netherlands, I have led on driving high standards in Teaching & Learning, ensuring every initiative is purposeful, evidence-informed, and focused on having a positive impact for students.

iSpeak® began in 2017, while I was working in The Netherlands, as a simple but powerful idea: that every child deserves the opportunity to find and share their voice. I created and launched the first iSpeak® event at The British School in The Netherlands, giving students an inclusive platform to express themselves with authenticity and purpose. The event quickly grew in scale and reputation, becoming a celebrated annual highlight - supported by the British Ambassador, who served as a judge for three consecutive years.

Since then, I’ve continued to lead iSpeak Live events in schools as part of my teaching roles - most recently at Bryanston Prep, again, seeing first-hand the difference purposeful oracy opportunities can make to students’ confidence, communication, and sense of connection. These experiences have inspired the development of iSpeak® into a new venture - built around three transformative life skills: Confidence, Communication, and Connection. This golden thread runs through each pathway: iSpeak Live, iSpeak Elevate, and iSpeak Challenge - offering schools, families, and students the chance to build skills that make a genuine and lasting difference.

Now back in Dorset, where my teaching career began, I’m proud to be launching iSpeak® as a new chapter - one that combines my experience in education with my passion for helping children and young people build skills that last a lifetime. Alongside my wife, who is a primary teacher, and our young daughter, I’m settled in this community and committed to empowering young people to speak with purpose, connect with meaning, and thrive with confidence. Outside of education, I’m a keen runner; it’s something that keeps me balanced and reflective - qualities that complement the ethos behind iSpeak®.

iSpeak® is more than its pathways; it’s a belief that every child deserves the chance to speak, connect, and express themselves with confidence, because when they do, their potential knows no limits.

Head of Teaching & Learning at Bryanston Prep School, Dorset
09/2021 - 08/2023
Deputy Head Academic at The Paragon School, Bath
09/2016 - 08/2021
Senior Leader at The British School in The Netherlands
Provided strategic leadership of teaching and learning from Reception to Year 8, building a culture of high expectations, evidence‑informed practice, and ensuring ensuring greater consistency.
Led whole‑school CPD and developmental coaching that strengthened classroom practice and trust, contributing to significant improvements in pupil outcomes across reading, spelling, and maths. Alongside academic development, I brought the iSpeak® approach I had previously established in the Netherlands to the school - designing successful large‑scale speaking events that supported over 50 students across two academic years to communicate with greater confidence and clarity to wider audiences.
Provided strategic leadership across curriculum, assessment, standards, and professional development - driving consistency, accountability, and clarity in teaching and learning. Led the redesign of assessment and tracking systems to give teachers and leaders a clearer picture of attainment and progress, enabling earlier intervention and more focused support for students.
Introduced a carefully phased whole-class reading approach, upskilling staff and working in partnership with parents to place reading at the centre of school life, resulting in improved outcomes and a shared understanding of high-quality reading practice. Alongside this, I streamlined reporting and communication processes to ensure transparency, trust, and clarity for families.
Provided senior leadership alongside classroom teaching, working closely with subject leads in core subjects to drive curriculum development, ensure consistency, and raise standards across the school. I played a key role in reviewing teaching and learning, monitoring student progress, and supporting colleagues to refine practice across phases.
It was during my time at The British School in The Netherlands that iSpeak® began. Initially launched as a public speaking event, it grew into a successful annual programme (2017–2019), with over 75 students participating and a panel of external judges including the British Ambassador. Alongside this, created and led an exciting and impactful Enterprise Week, partnering with The Hague Children’s Hospital to embed philanthropy, real-world learning, and student leadership into the curriculum.
